ERGO specialises in applied research for sustainable development and provides a broad spectrum of advisory services relating to environmental assessment, natural resource management, project implementation and technical back-stopping, including: independent reviews, resource surveys, biodiversity studies, GIS applications, image processing, spatial analysis, rural appraisal, monitoring and evaluation. 

The company was established in 1985, and merged with Resource Inventory and Management Limited in 1993 on completion of  the first countrywide, integrated air-ground surveys of Nigerian livestock resources for the Federal Government and the World Bank.

We maintain close links with Oxford University and have a well established track-record of interdisciplinary study and collaboration with many international organisations and development agencies, including: the European Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the Global Environment Facility, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the International Livestock Research Institute, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature; the Natural Resources Institute, Natural Resources International Limited, the Overseas Development Institute, OXFAM, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the UK Department for International Development, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Bank and the World Food Programme.

Our staff have extensive experience of working in developing countries, including: Botswana, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mali, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Niger, Rwanda, Tanzania, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Tchad, Viet Nam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
